OUTCOMES – 8th February Branch Meeting.

Hi everyone, well our second meeting of the year went off without a hitch with 45 members attending. We were still under the CovidSafe rules but hopefully these will be relaxed in time for our next meeting.

The meeting was up to its usual standard (I will leave you to insert your own view as to whether that’s good or bad!!).

There was a little more discussion on the printed versus an electronic version of the DR but at the moment we have to stick to the electronic version due to financial considerations. We are still in a reasonably healthy position but we want to be very considerate as to our outgoings for the foreseeable future.

Jim Richards raised an excellent point in that he found that Roger’s work in keeping the DR going whilst we were not meeting enabled him to keep him engaged with the Branch and the goings on: very well deserved kudos Roger.

There were two presentations on the night which is alway a nice interlude to proceedings.

The first one was a 70 year badge being presented to Bald Eagle. This presentation was a little late in being getting to Neil, if you consider 2 years a little late! We will try and do better for your 80th badge Neil!

If anyone is expecting a milestone birthday can you please let Rob Tunnicliff know so that we can ensure a badge is available.

The other presentation was an Appreciation Award given to Paul Rees. Paul is a long standing member of the Branch and has served as President, Treasurer and most recently Webmaster as well as leading rides to New Zealand and Tassie and many other rides. Thanks to Paul for all he has done on behalf of the Branch: a worthy recipient.

As we have lost a few really good members over the past couple of years I thought that it was high time that we had an annual Memorial Ride to honour and remember those member who have ‘Ridden On’.

I spoke to Leonie Palmer and asked her thought on emulating some of the Long Thursday Rides that she and Garry ran as a tribute to not only Garry but all our other friends who have passed. Leonie was very happy with the idea and gave me some ideas of rides that she enjoyed and thought were some of the best. Alan Young has subsequently put up his hand to put something together so keep an eye out for something more in the future: thanks Al.

Our ‘new’ Social Secretary has hit the ground running and has a number of things on the agenda with a lunch at the Bundeena RSL, Ladies High Tea at the Camellia Gardens and there are more events with more to come. We will post more details on the website shortly. Great work Michelle. the moment due to a number of factors a printed version of the DR is not feasible both logistically and financially and there will be more on that in the future.

Gerry brought along another bike again this month: a monster of a machine, the new BMW R18. Again the bike was made available to us by City Coast Motorcycles in Wollongong.

Gerry’s impressions of the bike and more details will be put up on the website shortly and as usual be in the e-DR

Well that’s the main points for now but for more information look out in the next e-DR for the minutes.

Next meeting – 8th March 2021 (hopefully!)
