What a beautiful, moderate to warm morning to go for a ride! Well, 13 other St George/Sutherland Ulyssians plus Beat with the Como Crew and Big Al with a group of Ducati’s had the same notion.

After a quick briefing we set off down the O.P Hwy, Appin Road, Broughton Pass, Douglas Park, over the hills and round about to Cawdor then the Oaks, Oakdale, across to Scroggies Road, through Thirlmere then on to Hilltop for coffee, some grits and resolution of world concerns.

Whilst enroute there were more than ample cars, bikes, deadly treadleys, kids on dirt bikes (far more aware of their surroundings than many others) together with a variety of attractions to keep us on our toes and conscious of keeping together as one group.

Special attraction included a plane taking off over us at the Oaks, a helicopter carrying a water bombing bucket, a very shiny red loco, a wedge tailed eagle wooking for a wascally wabbit then, on arrival at Hilltop we had a plethora or old, bold and highly modified vehicles on show. A very nicely built LS powered EH panel van and many others.

Whilst partaking in our repast we were treated to the driver of a yellow GT Falcon struggling to gain traction. Fortunately other vehicles in the near vicinity were able to provide sufficient room to avoid collision prior to this Falcon pilot removing his hand from his gear-shifter with a pulse then gain some semblance of control over his vehicle. Fortunately nobody was hurt and the group organisers only substantially embarrassed.

Any-hoo. A few left us at Hilltop and a few more peeled away from the group and we traverse the Y Towns, Rockford Road into Tahmoor, Picton, Wilton, Broughton Pass, Appin, O P Hwy and back to Heathcote where we all parted with plans to watch AFL, MotoGP, throw axes or other activities.

Another damned fine ride with this damned fine group. And lastly, a big thank you to TT for being our TEC.

Shrek.
