21st April 2025: Bundeena

Rain was predicted later in the day, but at the moment, not a cloud is in sight. Easter weekend public holidays—Friday and Monday—we all know what happens on these days.

Yes, you’re right: another opportunity for the government to rip you off with double demerit points. So, 5 km/h under the limit just to be safe. I only made it to Kirrawee, where a breathalyzer was set up on the highway. All clear, and I continued on.

With the rat race back into the big smoke expected around midday, a short ride was preferred. Seven starters today: Perry, Sniper, Lassi, Russell, Bob, Mungo, and Whispers.

Bundeena was the target today. The Princes Highway, where the 80-zone at Hanrob has been removed and relocated further along, near the turnoff to Waterfall Station.

From there, we took the OPH exit to the Helensburgh turnoff, past Symbio to Bald Hill, then via the Royal National Park to Bundeena. Being holiday time, everybody else was visiting, too.

The two cafés we usually visit were occupied, but the café on street level, which had been closed before, celebrated their grand opening this weekend and could accommodate all seven of us. Recently restored with reasonable prices, we enjoyed our meals—worth a visit.

Returning through the park, we said our farewells at the toll gates, where another breathalyzer was set up for visitors to the park.

Home by 11:30, before the traffic.

Thanks for the company, guys.

Cheers, John “Whispers” Warren
