I knew something was wrong with the VStrom as I made my way to Heathcote. The digital speedo was reading slow, I didn’t get up to more than 58 all the way through the 70 & 80K zones yet the traffic was flowing normally!!
When the other 7 riders turned up I asked Schafe to lead the way to Waterfall travelling on the speed limit. We entered the 100k zone and my speedo was showing 62 – the penny dropped – MPH! Somehow it had switched over or I had hit the right combination of buttons that changed it??
So for the rest of today’s ride I will be a mathematician, calculating the conversions.
Continuing down the OPH I got well ahead of the other riders in the School Zone – 40kph is , er, uh, duh #@$#@ , just as well the Police were packing up their gear as we passed.

Ok , onto Appin Road , Douglas Park and Cawdor before a left from Dowles Lane onto Burrogorang Road with The Old Oakes Road leading us onto Werrombi Road. A bit of traffic but that cleared once we hit Silverdale Road and then through the roadworks to Oakdale and Barkers Lodge Road giving as a quick run to Picton.
We found enough seating in the Parkside Patisserie and the service was reasonably quick with pies being the popular pick. A good chance to chat with Wayne and Chris who managed to time work commitments to make a falrly rare mid week ride. Also a chance to welcome Graham who is local, usually rides his FJR with a branch on the northside but joined us today to see how our rides are run. Hope to see you on some more rides Graham!
They are rebuilding the toilet block in the Memorial Park but that should be completed by our next visit to this venue. Meantime the Patisserie staff provided us with a key. For you younger riders , as you get older you will realise the importance of toilet access on our rides 😊
Heading home over Razorback Chris and then Wayne left for other commitments and the remaining 6 riders had a good run home via Douglas Park and the OPH.
Thanks to Dane for looking after the TEC duties and to the rest of our little group for the good company.
