First, my apologies. When I arose at 5:45 this morning and looked out my window, I saw puddles of water in my driveway and black clouds to the north. I did the most foolish thing, I consulted the BOM (some people never learn). It told me rain was expected in the next hour.

Easy choice to make—cancel the ride, put the cancellation on Facebook, and go back to bed. Done. Sometime later, the phone rang: “Are you riding today? The sun’s shining!”

7:15. Departure time—8:00. I’m in bed. What are my chances of getting there by 8:00? I’m off like Superman in a phone box! Gear on and out the door—whoops, open the garage door first.

Bike mounted, garage door closed — whoops again — open the garage door again, put my helmet on, depart planet Earth, and mix it with the carnivores in their four-wheelers.

Arriving at 7:55—plenty of time left. Lassi patiently waiting. Then Russel arrived, pointing his finger and mouthing, “D….head! I read your post, and you still can’t get it right.”

The Colonel arrived but didn’t mention Facebook, so evidently, he either didn’t read it or didn’t want to embarrass me further.

Destination today was Picton, Leaf & Bean Café, town centre. Grumble-bums and my favourite—the best bacon and eggs.

An extended yarn time, in which we reorganised the election results, took us to 11:00. Then we departed for home via Razorback, Cawdor, Hume Hwy, and Heathcote Rd for our goodbyes, arriving home about 12:30.

Thanks for the company, guys.
