From Menai we left at 8.00 and headed off to Heathcote Road. At the Shell servo Wayne joined the group and we were now nine turning onto the freeway to the Casula exit where we run the gauntlet of Camden Valley Way lights. We caught a few red lights at the beginning but then we must have caught the right sequence and had a smooth run to Greendale Road passing through Wallacia, Mulgoa before joining Mulgoa Rd Penrith taking us to MacDonalds for our morning break. At Macca’s we were joined by Chris, Dennis (from Nepean Branch) and his mate Stuart. The earlier start was beneficial as we had a really good run with little traffic.

After our break we prepared to head off with Chris, Wayne and Smoko heading back home. For the rest of us we headed off along Mulgoa Road to Cranebrook and Windsor to Putty Road. We turned off at King Road and passed through Ebenezer on our way to the Sackville Ferry. On the other side of the river, we followed Sackville Ferry Road before turning onto River Road. Here for about 30 klms we followed the river on a very picturesque and ride into Wisemans Ferry. All along the ride you could still see the effects of the latest floods with lots of repair work under way. We made good time arriving in Wisemans Ferry at 11.15 am a bit too early for lunch so once again we crossed the river onto Wisemans Fery Road and headed up to Spencer Café for our lunch break. Since the last time I was here the café has been taken over and the new owners have spent some money on renovations with the site remodeled including a new indoor seating area and new tables around the jetty.

After a very enjoyable break we continued along Wisemans Ferry Road through Mangrove Mountain, Central Mangrove and Peats Ridge before joining the Old Pacific Highway at the Calga Interchange. We briefly stopped at Pie in the Sky to say our farewells and head home. With fine weather and little traffic, it was a great day to be out on two wheels and once again enjoying roads we haven’t been on for a while. Hope to see you on a ride soon.
